This process is similar to manufacturing other parts of the car body, primarily using steel sheets.

• Stamping

Pro

cess: Using large stamping presses and dies, flat steel sheets are sequentially stamped into the outer and inner panels of the trunk lid, as well as various reinforcing components.

Details: The outer panels require a smooth surface and clear outlines; the inner panels have a complex structure, including mounting points for locks, hinges, wiring harnesses, etc.

• Welding

Process: The stamped inner and outer panels, along with the reinforcing components, are welded into an assembly using spot welding, laser welding, and other methods.

Details: This process requires high-precision welding fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy and a seamless fit with the car body.

• Painting

Process: The welded tailgate assembly, along with the body-in-white, undergoes pretreatment (degreasing, phosphating), electrophoresis, intermediate coat, color paint, and clear coat application.

Details: The electrophoretic layer provides a rust-preventive primer, while the color paint and clear coat provide the appearance, gloss, and weather resistance.

• Final Assembly
• Process: After painting is completed, the tailgate is transported to the final assembly line, where all accessories such as glass, sealing strips, locks, hinges, license plate lights, rear wipers, and wiring harnesses are installed.

Structural Design Adapts to Practical Needs: Some Car Trunk Lids are equipped with axial dampers, ensuring a slow and controllable closing speed. This reduces collision noise, prevents finger pinching, and reduces wear on hinges, latches, and other components, extending their lifespan. Additionally, rubber sealing strips along the edges of the trunk lid enhance sealing, providing waterproofing and dustproofing to protect luggage and items inside the trunk from damage. Some lids also divide storage space, preventing items from sliding and scattering during sudden braking.
