What are the selection principles for general valve blanks?

The commonly used blanks in mechanical processing include castings, forgings, profiles, and welded parts. Different types of blanks, as well as the precision, roughness, and hardness of the blanks, have a direct impact on the machining process. When selecting valve blanks, the following factors should be considered:
(1) The material of the parts and the requirements for the organization and performance of the materials. The materials specified on the design drawing generally determine the type of blank. For example, if the material of the component is cast iron, the casting method must be used to manufacture the blank. For steel parts, the mechanical performance requirements of the material should be considered when selecting the blank. For example, the parts used to manufacture high-pressure valves should generally be forged or welded to ensure that the material has good mechanical properties.
(2) The structural shape and external dimensions of the parts. The structural switch of the component is an important factor affecting the selection of the blank. For example, for valve bodies with complex structural switches, castings can be used. Large valve bodies can be cast in sand molds; For smaller sizes, investment casting is used.
(3) The size of the production plan. The larger the production schedule of the parts, the better the economic effect of using high-precision and high-efficiency blank manufacturing methods.
(4) The conditions for rough manufacturing. The selection of raw materials should be based on the equipment and process level on site, and advanced raw material manufacturing methods should be gradually adopted considering the development prospects.
