Marine Cast Steel Globe Check Valves are mainly used in ship pipeline systems. They have the dual functions of shutoff and preventing medium backflow, ensuring one-way flow of fluid and protecting equipment safety. Its working principle is as follows:
Marine Cast Steel Globe Check Valves combine the characteristics of shutoff valves and check valves, which can not only cut off the fluid, but also automatically prevent medium backflow. When the fluid flows forward, the valve disc opens to allow the medium to pass; when the medium flows back, the valve disc automatically closes to block the reverse flow, thereby avoiding equipment damage or system failure caused by backflow.


Stop function: Apply pressure through the valve stem to make the valve disc sealing surface fit tightly with the valve seat to achieve medium cutoff.
Check function: Rely on the weight of the valve disc itself and the pressure difference of the medium to automatically close and block backflow. For example, when the ship engine is shut down, it can effectively prevent water in the water pipe from flowing back to the water pump and causing damage.
how to maintain Marine Cast Steel Globe Check Valves
1. Regular Visual Inspection
- Visual: Perform an exterior visual inspection for signs of corrosion and leaks on the valve body.
- Operational Test: Close and open the valve several times to check its proper movement. Its Internal Examination: After isolating and depressurizing your system, disassemble the valve to inspect for signs of wear such as scratches or debris on internal components such as disc and seat.
2. Cleaning
- External cleaning: To Remove dirt, use a wire brush or soft cloth with the appropriate solvent and to wipe down components with an antibacterial solution.
- To Clean internally: Care should be taken not to damage components when clearing any build-up or debris in the interior of the valve; any excess buildup must be cleared away by using appropriate means and solvent.
- Lubrication:Lubricate moving components with suitable grease to reduce friction and wear.
- Flushing: To flush away debris from your valve, if necessary you may use compressed air or an approved cleaning solution to flush your system.
3. Repair & Replacement:
- Sanding: To restore sealing surfaces back to their original smoothness, any scratches must be sanded off using fine grit sandpaper. Gasket Replacement: Damaged gaskets should be changed out to avoid leakage problems. Seat Replacement: When worn valve seats become defective they should be swapped out for newer, undamaged ones in order to guarantee good seals.
- Tighten Bolts Properly: Check that all bolts that connect the body to the bonnet have the appropriate torque settings.
4. Additional Considerations
- Proper Installation: For proper functioning and long-term durability, ensure the valve is installed with its intended flow direction, leaving sufficient maintenance space. Avoid Over-Tightening: To avoid damage caused by too much force used when tightening equipment.
- Manufacturer's Instructions: For recommended maintenance and lubrication practices, refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
- Storage : When storing valves, ensure they are kept in an area free from dust and humidity.
