The working principle of the marine mud box mainly includes the following aspects:
Structural design: The marine mud box is usually made of carbon steel and is designed as a horizontal cylinder, consisting of upper and lower heads, a cylinder, a manhole, legs, etc.
Filtration mechanism: The filter plate is installed obliquely in the water inlet direction, and φ5mm filter holes are evenly distributed on the plate. This design enables the mud box to intercept cotton yarn, oil sludge and other debris.
Inlet and outlet design: The inlet pipeline is equipped with a DN150 connection flange, which is directly connected to the suction port of the bilge water system. The filtration efficiency can be maintained at a stable flow rate of 2.5m/s. The outlet pipeline is connected to the drainage pump through the second mounting flange. After a marine centrifugal pump is equipped with this mud box, the impeller wear rate is reduced by 67%
Automatic cleaning mechanism: The mud box has a built-in rotating inner cylinder. When the pressure difference of the filter plate exceeds 0.05MPa, the pressure airbag triggers the inner cylinder to rotate 180 degrees, thereby cleaning the attachments on the filter screen. Laboratory tests show that a single rotation can remove 92% of the blockages.
Drainage and pressure control: The sewage pipe is equipped with a DN200 quick interface to connect the onshore oil recovery vehicle, which can process 2.3 cubic meters of oily sludge per hour. In addition, the pressure chamber is linked with the transfer airbag. When the pressure of the inner cylinder reaches 0.1MPa, the telescopic airbag pushes the sliding column to trigger the power switch to realize automatic fault alarm.
Installation and maintenance: During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the angle between the bottom of the mud box and the horizontal plane of the bilge is 15° to increase the natural discharge rate of silt. After a shipyard installed according to this standard, the natural discharge rate of silt increased by 40%.
